Greetings from NZ. Loving Summer in New Zealand !!!

Spending the weekend at the amazing Bristol Rhythm and Roots Reunion... I've been to alot of festivals but I've never seen or heard anything like this ! An entire town and comunity devoted to celebrating Americana / Country / Roots music. Every street has a stage, every resturant and bar has non stop music... its almost overwhelming.

Hey Gang... just wanted to say that I'll be with my solo band on Sept.16 at Brisol Tenn. for the Rhythm and Roots Reunion festival...

Now that I've been home for a few days I reflect on the amazing Kauai Rocks experience we had with the Love Hope & Strength gang...

I'm in Nashville to see Richard Butler and the Psychedelic Furs play at the Mercy Lounge...they are going to do the enitre " Talk Talk " album...

Just getting ready for 3 big nights at the Hollywood Bowl...

Winding up the Mississippi Mile solo tour here in the northeast... just finished the first of two shows with the Avett Brothers ....

Well, back in Japan ...first time in a long time for H&O.  The Japanese fans are so faithful and I'm seeing lots of familiar faces some of who I've known for over 20 years !!!  Got a chance to visit the ancient shrines at Kyoto yesterday and playing in Nagoya tonight.  Tomorrow we go to Tokyo for 2 more sold out shows and then to Hawaii for some R&R and one last show.  Heading home after that to put the finishing touches on my new album which will be released April 12.  Just found out that I may have a very special guest sitting in with me at my NYC show at BB Kings on Apr. 13... more on that later!!!  ~ J.O.

I just wanted to thank everyone who came out to the East Coast shows last week... really made me feel good to know you liked the songs from the new album.  I'll be "leaking" some of the new tunes after the New Year.

Right now I'm getting a little down time before I hit the road again for a few more solo shows:  Knoxville Square Room Nov. 9 / Music City Roots Nashville Nov. 10 / and on Nov. 13 Ft. Lewis College in Durango CO.

Then I'm getting on the pink bus to join Donovan Frankenreiter and his band for some shows in the midwest:  Chicago Nov. 18 / Pontiac MI. Nov.19 / Cleveland Nov. 20 / Nashville Nov. 21.  Gonna try to write some new songs in between jammin'  if you haven't seen Donovan ...don't miss it !  He is cool and puts on a...

On Aug. 15 I had another opportunity to jam with my good buddy Donovan Frankenreiter... if you are not hip to his music get with it on the double he is cool and a great singer songwriter... oh yeah and his band kicks butt as well!

After the set on the big stage we went over to do a live radio broadcast and started playing the song you can check out here...

The crazy part is after the intro to the song you can hear some music starting in the background and see Grundy and Me look to our right... on an adjacent stage the rap group Cyprus Hill was starting their...

Well after 2 years of sneaking in new ...or should I say new / old material into my solo shows I've finally carved out some time to return to Nashville to start recording a new solo album.  I have to say that after "1000 Miles of Life" I've got the bug and I got it bad !  I just love working down here among such gifted and talented musicans and in a community that lives and breaths music.

The theme of this recording is " the songs I loved when I was a kid " ... by that I mean stuff by Chuck Berry, Elvis, Curtis Mayfield, Ray Charles, Mississippi John Hurt and more... there will of course be a few origninal squeezed in there or I wouldn't feel right.  One of the originals will be a nice surprise for all you hard core H&O fans.

The band, as usual,...

Daryl Hall: To say that I am shocked is the ultimate understatement. T-Bone was my musical brother and losing him is like losing my right hand. It’s not if I will go on, but how. T-Bone was one of the most sensitive and good human beings that I have ever known. And, I can truly say that I loved him. John Oates: His character was pure and his unique and quirky personality touched everyone he encountered. His musical sensibility was peerless, any instrument that he touched resonated with a sensitivity and skill level that I have never experienced while playing with any other musician. He possessed an encyclopedic knowledge of styles and musical history which he referenced to support all the artists that he played with over the years. He became our band's musical director over time leading by example and by the deference and respect that everyone who played alongside him so...
